Their lightweight nature, durability, and cost-effectiveness have made them oneof the world's most widely used materials.
In recent years, however, growing concernsover marine plastic pollution and climatechange have accelerated the global movement toward reducing plastic use in pursuit of a more sustainable society. Within the beverage industry in particular, companies and research institutions around the world have been actively developing paper-based bottles. Despite these efforts, no commercially viable bottle made entirely without plastic has yet been realized.
A review of publicly available patentinformation reveals numerous innovations related to paper bottles. However, most existing technologies still rely on plastic liners or polymer coatings inside the bottle, meaning that PET (polyethylene terephthalate) has not been completely eliminated.
ADEKI Industry Co., Ltd. is committed to addressing this challenge through the research and development of next-generation paper bottle technologies.
Our vision, however, goes beyond simplyreducing the use of plastics.
From the perspective of reducing CO₂ emissions, materials that ultimately requireincineration will inevitably generate carbon dioxide at the end of their life cycle. Achievinggenuine environmental sustainability requires considering the entire product life cycle—from manufacturing and use to final disposal.
Guided by this philosophy, our researchand development is based on a simple but powerful concept: creating containers that return naturally to the earth.
Our long-term objective is not only to developpaper-based beverage bottles, but also to create next-generation environmentallyfriendly containers that can decompose naturally and circulate within the ecosystem without relying on incineration.
